Plague vs. Progress

As many alumni know, the Plague was a prized possession for the early members of the crew team. The 1983 Carbocraft was rowed by the entire team until the late 1990's. As the team grew and equipment was upgraded, the Plague was tucked away for possible use again. The recent demolition of the old boathouse left the Plague without its comfortable home atop the boathouse racks. It was moved to the North Fields where it sucummbed to weeds, but not degredation. The boats hull held strong, shalacked and bonded with NASA grade sealant. Unconquered by the Tufts sailing team that tried to dismember it this 2008 Spring season, the crew team pulled all stops and gave the Plague the next best farewell aside from a Viking funeral. The pictures that follow document the demolition of the Plague. If any alumni have stories about the Plague that they'd like to share with the team, please email the coaches. We'd love to hear from you! Contact Kristin at kmconlin@smcm.edu.
